The Open Britain Campaign Ramps up a Gear

I was so pleased when the two of Open Britain’s most enthusiastic activists, Sarah & Charlotte, asked me to photograph some of north London’s OB campaigners outside of the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead.  I have a soft spot in my heart for this part of London as it’s where we were living when my children were born — in fact, the Royal Free looked after many of their early years’ illnesses and mishaps.  As it’s rather a hike from where we now live in Kew, I brought Billie, our Pomeranian, along for morning.  She quickly became the hit of the photoshoot.

Then on the 13th of December, David Gwyther asked if I could photograph an Open Britain gathering in Parliament Square.  Although it was dreary weather-wise, it was nevertheless an exciting morning with inspiring speeches by my hero, Chuka Umunna, the Green Party leader, Caroline Luca,s and the Lib Dem OB supporting-MP, Thomas Brake.  We were all thrilled to learn that later that day, Amendment 7 of the EU Withdrawal Bill passed in the House which will give Parliament a meaningful vote in any Brexit deal.
